Hi there. Since the last few GOTD offers I have had problems installing the activation software. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. The software itself installs fine, but the activation software will not install, whatever Compatibility mode I try. I already posted the error code I receive on the GOTD giveaway page for today's offer, and I am not on that computer right now, so I will have to re-post it later on. Am I the only one with this issue, or are there other users experiencing the same problems with the latest activation software? Thanks in advance.

Same problem for me - Clipdiary still in evaluation mode despite running so-called activation.

No problems here running Activate.exe -- it just connected to the GOTD server(s), made its changes to Windows registry, & the about box shows it registered to giveawayoftheday. It should be run as admin in Vista/7 to make sure it can alter the registry, & others have reported that Activate.exe uses parts of Internet Explorer, so may want to make sure everything's cool with that.

Right on.
I'd like to add ...and make sure nothing blocks activate exe from using a tcp connection.Off topic, maybe: Recently I discovered my antivirus had removed part of the activation process without prior notice,i.e for some reason it removed the actual setup file (...and the wrapped setup suddenly became a lot smaller that what I had downloaded, though still wrapped)
But in the end it appeared to be a false positive.Posted 13 years ago # -
As ClipDiary runs in the background (shows a clipboard icon in the system tray) - users might have difficulties if they try to run activate.exe while ClipDiary is already running.
It is entirely possible that ClipDiary only checks if it is registered when it is starting up - so if you activate it later, it is probably determining if it is registered based on what it saw when the program first started (which was "unregistered").
Try closing the application down again (right click on the system tray icon - and select "Exit") - then restart the application. This should cause the registration check to happen again.
Alternatively you can just reboot your PC - which will ensure that ClipDiary starts again from scratch.
My preference in these cases is to either
- Run Activate.exe BEFORE Setup.exe (despite what the readme says)
OR
- Choose not to automatically start the app when the setup.exe completes - if I haven't yet run Activate.exe
For the record - the app works just fine and registered without problems on Windows 7 64bit.
