You know what could work, though? An offsite IRC channel. It's like the Steam chatroom, except anyone who has an IRC client (and not need to load about 200 MB of junk in memory) can quickly pop in. I don't really use IRC, but it could be community moderated, and the GOTD team won't even need to care about it. Anyone know a server that would host it for free?
