I just wanted to say that I for one appreciate you posting links to games everyday. I too have noted that you seem to be getting thumbs down on the front page for your postings about the games. I guess people are doing that because they feel your links are not comments about the day's download.

You also mention that no-one seems to be interested in what you are doing. Well I am. I have been following the links since day one of your project. However, I have not posted on the forums because I don't think that you get a very nice reception. No hello, no nothing. Just my opinion but valid nonetheless. I have only posted once before and was completely ignored! Strange, since some of the regulars moved to cybamart some of the posters that have stayed here have commented that the forum is very quiet. Well it will be if people don't feel welcome.

I visit GOTD every day first thing and always look in on the forums while I'm here. I have always found the advice and links etc to be extremely helpful. Although I hadn't registered until recently I have been visiting for more than a year and considered the forums more of a reason to visit than the software (usually).

I have only plucked up the courage to post this because I did not want you to feel that people were not bothered about your game links. I was sad when I read your post on the front page today. There are probably loads of people like me who love your recommendations but are too shy to post.

Thanks for what you do Stephen, keep it up.

I could not have put it any better than Mem. I read your posts everyday and look forward to the games you find for us. I also admire how you never have anything bad to say, your always positive. Please keep up the good work.

Everybody likes what you do & appreciates your advice enormously!!!

I don't know how many times I've said this (and in fact I think people are fed up w me repeating it all the time!!) everything I know about games, I've learned from you! From what their name means to how to play them, to which folder to use, to how to make shortcuts, to ... I'll stop here and spare the others my ramblings ...
Even been learning how to evaluate & compare different games. Your reviews are very important!!

The Forum has been much calmer than usual, maybe that's why you think there is less interest?
But I assure you, everybody is always very interested in your discoveries!

As for the thumbs down on the front page ... Really Stephen, you should know better than pay any attention to that. Probably just young kids that have nothing better to do! I've even seen BuBBy's post w lots of thumbs down, so go figure!!! There is no logic to that!!

That shouldn't stop you from doing what you do best!!
Without you, we could suffer severe & painful withdrawal, you know ;-)
And ... you wouldn't want to be responsible for that now, would you??!!!

Nice one folks. No worries, I wont be stopping my weekday postings just yet.

I think maybe the drugs that I have to take are getting to me. I have to take a particular appetite supressant (acomplia - rimonabant) because since my accident I put on four stones, that together with the opiates I have to take has impacted on my breathing quite seriously - especially at night when I'm laying down; (or so the medics think. I won't go into details, except to say, that the drug I am prescribed is notorious for causing depression. I know I've become rather snappy since taking the stuff, and am considering stopping it soon becauseof this. I've lost around one and a half stones since May, but now feel that I can probably control my appetite without the drug. Maybe then I'll start to feel a little better.

Thank you for replying to my query. I do appreciate it, and will continue to post games during the week for the foreseeable future. Well, at least until I can't find any games that I consider worthwhile. I've found several that I'll certainly be keeping; that I remember from the late 80's and early 90's which was a real surprise. I've only concerned myself with post millennium games for the past few years and had totally ignored the older games, which is a shame as there are some excellent ones to be found if you're willing to look.

If anyone has any suggestions as to games they remember that they would like to see, I shall endeavor to find them; though no promises can be made.

Whiterabbit, trying to stay upbeat and focused can be exhausting when fighting the "black dog". I know only too well. I'm am pleased to hear that there will be more games to come. Filling that space in my day would be a real pain.

Peeking my head above the parapet has been nice. I may do it again soon :-)

It's a holiday weekend here so looking forward to plenty of fun with my wee boys. Have a really good weekend whatever your doing.

Whiterabbit, Good morning (or afternoon for you!). I, too, have been coming to these forums for over a year and very rarely have posted. I look forward to your reviews daily, and always hunt for the latest gems you have posted. I am amazed at the work you do to give us free games that you've found lurking around the web and appreciate it all the more. I apologize for not jumping in and saying so earlier, and do hope that you keep doing what you're doing for us and all the others who may be too shy to post. Thanks!!

I post only occasionally, as I usually have nothing that would add to the conversation or would enlighten anyone. And, as I was taught as a kid, (Manyyyyy moons ago) if you don't have something constructive to say, don't say anything at all - or something to that effect. (Now that I think of it,it was probably "good to say", etc., but I think that it would still apply!) So, I'll try a post today - unusual for me.

Stephen, I have learned a lot from you. Though I am unbelievably dense when it comes to computer software and the OS, I have been able to learn some from reading all the posts in the forums. I now know just enough to get me in BIG TROUBLE. LOL Really though, keep up your efforts as they are appreciated!! It would be a very sad state if the ingrates that come and go from here dictated what the vast majority of people on this site enjoyed.

I just registered to post so I could comment on how important I feel you are to this community.

I don't pay any attention to the "thumbs up/down" rankings - enough has been said about how useless those are and suggestions to improve that system seem to fall on deaf ears.

When I come to the website, I look for your review first - I even look for your comments on the non-game site just in case you've posted. I find your info and opinions to be unbiased and highly informative. When you aren't able to post, I feel like I've lost a valuable asset to help me make an informed decision.

Remember, the internet if a faceless, generally soulless community - just look at the inhumane, cruel and violent postings on the likes of YouTube for confirmation. Anonymity seems to give the average human the feeling that they can act as malevolent and puerile as possible with no repercussions. And, it's been like that since long before a graphical interface gave the general public access to the internet.

Please, please, please keep up the good work - I think it's a shame you're not compensated for your efforts.

Well, I'm all embarrassed now ...
I do post a lot of comments that have nothing to do w Tech or Games, and most of the time have nothing to do w reality either, as in chasing people w my imaginary swords ...
But that has not stopped me and it shouldn't stop you either!

If I was waiting for something «Enlightening & Constructive» to say, I would be silent most of the time, right?

I'm sorry to hear about the accident and all that goes along with it. I wanted to offer encouragement. I always look for your reviews when GGotD posts a game. I can see the Thumbs UP and Thumbs DOWN ratings, but that doesn't give any real indication of how the game plays.

Your reviews ALWAYS give accurate representations of the actual game play and whether it is worth it or not to download and play. Your reviews are the FIRST thing I look for on a Game Giveaway.

Your freeware giveaways are awesome too. I don't know where you find all of these games. I am a longtime gamer, but due to "Real Life"(tm) and family commitments I haven't been able to find the freeware or low cost games in a LONG time. I really appreciate all that you do. I'm glad you put up your note. Otherwise I don't think I would have written to you otherwise. I need to remember that for every positive comment someone receives, they have usually received 5 - 10 negative comments.

Wabbit, same as several others, I've been reading and not writing for quite a while now and thought it was important this time to let you know that you have a bunch of fans on here! I honestly don't know how you do it; I have hunted games for hours, especially puzzle games and come up with few not-very-well-done ones. Please keep on doing what you do so well. It was because of your post on the main giveaway page that I found this forum. I think you are awesome. My heart goes out to you for what you are dealing with medically. I've been fighting the dog most of my adult life and do not usually get involved in forums because of it. You know, you get involved in a long thread, you spiral for a while, and the next thing you know, it has been two months and everyone wonders where you went. Oh wait, that's me, sorry 'bout that. =) Anyway, YOU ARE APPRECIATED! I've not been on this forum long, but that fact is the most apparent one yet. Bless ya, sweetie!!!!!!!!!

A big thank you to everyone. I'm always surprised at the responce to such negatives. Anyway, I've decided to post in the giveaway forums at least once a week with a list of the games I 've posted that week only idf to catch those that are new to the forums and to remind the community of the games I post. It isn't right that I should allow the opinions of a few to dictate what I feel is the right thing to do.

In freegamepick.com there are lots of diffenrent games at no cost...

In gamershell.com go to the section fullgames I am still going crazy trying them all..

(I run everything in a sandbox so no traces on PC)

Hi Shawndion, yeah, there's some excellent games available from both of these download sites. I've got quite a few ear marked for the weekday games project, so you'll probably recognise quite a few coming up next month and November :)

Most of the games I've been posting come from download sites such as those two, so if you want to get as many games as possible now, just back track on all the ones I've posted so far and you'll find a wonderland of free games. There's some really good games available from most of them.

Hello all! I know I have been MIA for months, but I have been busy with life, writing my blog and waiting until I got a new PC to try and get any new games. The old one was only a 256ram and the hard drive was pretty much full. Well I just got a new PC a couple of weeks ago and am looking to find some new games and hopefully eventually replace many of the games that I was not able to transfer to the new one. I now have Vista Home Premium sp1, 3g ram and LOTS of space on the hard drive!!

Stephen, since I first found this site in June 2007, yours has always been the first post that I read for any given game. Because I am legally blind, there are only so many games types that I can play - mostly the much maligned match three! I can almost always tell by your in depth reviews and your screenshots if this is a game that is suitable for my abilities/vision and worth the doenload! I would be lost without your input and would not have found games like Rise Of Atlantis (I was on my 8th journey!), Around THe World in 80 days, Buku Dominos, Buku Sudoku and Ingenious, Mahjong Artifacts (with tiles I could actually see the differences in!) - all of which are still on the old PC! :( I was also unable to transfer an old copy of Jewel Match which is one of my very fave's - have played all 150 levels at least 7 or 8 times!

I was able to transfer Jewel Quest 1 & 2, Bejeweled 2 and Chuzzle (a fave!) but that is about it.

So, my dear white rabbit, I am relying on you to help guide me to new games with your brilliant comments, reviews, screenshots and links. I have started reading some of the threads here for frre games during the week. You and other members here have done an amazing job of finding new addictions for all of us! Perhaps I have missed it, but is there any type of thread or section that deals more with match 3 games? If not, would you consider starting one? Right now, I feel like I am looking for needles in a haystack!

Thank you Stephen, for all you do here! Thank you mem for starting this thread and to all the others who have expressed their appreciation so elloquently! If I could, I would send you all some dark chocolate!!! Much love, dn

Looks like you have quite a fan club, Stephen... and well-deserved it is. I haven't been able to post here for ages because of non-response to repeated requests for a password, but finally used a different email addy and tada. But of course all my preferred user names are null and void now. (also started posting here as midori, till I found a "moo" one that went thru) But like a kid each day, I've looked here to see what you've posted (since they stopped the weekly), and before that always to read your great reviews. Like vilulf, i am hit in the face to of emotions.
7 months after this topic started your still arround, while i come here only ones in a while (no need for everyday a new game, or my lady would take over my PC)

But during the times i visit i am always happy to see your comments and advices. Open, clear and with the warnings how to install or internet highjacks of installations. Without these advices i would probebly only play mine sweeper and wouldnot dare to download many of these games.
And i am thankfull that there are people like you Stephen, who offer to give a helping hand if needed.

You helped me out a few times. I wished i could help you some how.
At least i wish you good strenght to resist the (bad) effects of your accident.
