You guys had Action as a giveaway on March 19th. Installed it fine with the included key. But Tuesday started up the program and got a message the serial was blacklisted. The key was working fin up until then, didn't update the program, never tried to reinstall it.

You should also report the issue directly to the GOTD team via the Contact Form.
I went back to the giveaway page and found many comments similar to:
Same thing for me. I tried stopping firewall, antivirus etc. to no avail.
What did work for me was to go Action!'s main page, https://mirillis.com/en/products/action.html , and download the Trial version. The username and key from GOTD work to activate it!They may have given away far more copies than they realized and corrected the error by making another (likely far more serious) error.

OK, thanks.

I had this same problem. When I tried the trial fix, the trial version came up with the same message (authed but blacklisted). When I uninstalled and reinstalled I got the message:
The serial number you have entered has been deactivated.
I have reported through the contact form as ChrisS suggested. Thanks for the link, ChrisS :)

Very interesting. The contact bounced back to my email as undeliverable.

Is this something I've done oddly?
No, it's something that Yahoo did a couple of years ago. See Yahoo email anti-spoofing policy breaks mailing lists for more information. The easiest solution is to use a different email address.

Thanks for the heads up.
Booting into a copy of 10 where I'd installed it, fired it up & sure enough, it was black listed. Clicked the link for their FAQ, which wouldn't work in 10's Edge browser. Used Firefox & no remedies mentioned, though the same question was listed twice so I assume it's come up likely often. Uninstalled, doing a registry search for Mirillis as I type this -- when I get a chance I'll dig out my files recording the install to make sure I got everything... did leave folders in Program Files, ProgramData, User AppData Local & Roaming.
I Do Hope those who want or need the app get a cure...
as for myself, I'm done with the company. Digiarty found themselves in the same boat, did the same thing, & even though they tried some sort of remedy when they found out how many people they'd ticked off, I've yet to download, try, use, buy, or say a word of recommendation on their behalf since. What someone takes away today, for whatever reason, no matter how justified the cause, they can take away tomorrow, with or without cause. There are other apps that do the same thing, including one built into win10, so no need to worry about things like the registry search that's still ongoing as part of the uninstall -- 10's registry is more a bear than 7's [sigh].Posted 8 years ago # -

Yeah, I don't understand what the company was thinking (and apologies to any sentient beings that might contest the "thinking" portion of the comment). What separates GOTD from the other sites is that you supposedly get a fully licensed lifetime version of the daily offer versus a trialware version of some specific software that you were looking for to accomplish a particular task. You then, some days, weeks, or months, later try the software and find it dead or reverted to trialware which completely obviates the purpose of GOTD and greatly annoys the users (see some company with "bits" in the name).
Again, and I can't stress this enough, you get what's offered versus something that you're looking for, and it's dead when you want to try it at some future date. How on Earth, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Mercury or any other planetary object is that useful as a marketing strategy? I try your software and it doesn't work. Yeah, that will make me buy it.
The proper course would have been to come out with a new version with wonderfully enhanced functionality. You could keep your old "icky" GOTD version or get the new "wonderful" version. Instead, it appears that they killed the old version and their company. Maybe they could open a Pie Shop... everybody likes pie!

This reminds me of a time when an android app author took literally the free app of the day on one of the sites, I think it was Appgratis. When the day was over, the software reverted back to the free version and when people complained, the author was like, "What's the problem? You got the full app free for that day."

Thanks for that info. I rarely email other than people and I hadn't realized! If I ever knew about that, I'd forgotten.
Yeah, the program was okay, I could have used it but I didn't really like it enough to jump through hoops.

"Thanks for that info. I rarely email other than people and I hadn't realized!"It probably would be a good idea to start the move to something else, Nass, before you're forced to. I mean it's actually to the point nowadays when you might [or might not] notice on any given day, hey, Yahoo's still there.

Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a dinosaur. I don't adapt well. It looks like I'm gonna have to adapt to this though and go gmail. It's like the search engines. I've always preferred Yahoo search to Google because Google seems to be watching me more. But Yahoo now doesn't seeme to follow standard search tips like using +, - or quotes. I have to use Google for complex searches and I'll probably have to use gmail for email too. Sigh.

Wonder if Mirillis Splash giveaway from April will have the same problem in a few weeks.

Microsoft also offers free accounts, so see which you like best. In the news today Yahoo's auctioning off its patents, so you *might* not have too long.

Thanks for the headsup. I'd better backup my emails so I don't lose any info.
