I didn't know if anyone else has had problems with this, but the processor listed under my system information tab on winutilites is incorrect. I was a bit taken aback when it said it was a Pentium III Xeon. The proper processor name for my computer's processor is a Core 2 Duo; it would be impossible for a 2.79 GHz proceesor to be under the Pentium family as it would blowout in that case. If anyone else has had a similar problem, please let you opinions be heard.

yep and the older the version it is the worse it gets.
For old versions, the reason is that the processor or motherboard is not in the database on file. It doesnt search an online database each for answers and there are thousands of processors, motherboards, ram, disk drives, video cards, and network cards.
They should would write the program like that to go online and search from an updated database, but it really isnt a priority for them. Most people know what they have, unless you buy used.
I aslo have Ashampoo WinOptimizer 5 and does a similar thing for me, fortunately I they are doing a giveaway for 6 somewhere and just need to install it. That should correct my issue.
Here's what winutilties reads for me.System

windir C:\WindowsI was only skimming and that was what I caught cause I knew it would read something wrong. I have a 64 bit architecture otherwise I couldnt run windows 7 64bit and the other error is obvious I think.
Processor architecture is AMD running an Intel. I dont think so.
I think this error evolved cause my board will run both Nvidia and ATI in tri sli mode. Just in case you are unsure what that means, it is either 3 ATI video cards at the same time or 3 nvidia video cards at the same. It cant be a mix though.
What I'm getting at, this would through up a a weird architecture that an old driver would be able to read.Wow wrote alot more than I meant to. Anyway dont worry about it. It doesnt hurt your computer. It just isnt reliable information.

So that is your only problem with the WinUtilities? I had the darn thing freeze up on me when I was doing 1 click maintenance. It was scanning the "Clean Internet Temporary Files" and was stuck doing that for an hour. I then cancelled that, only to have it still keep scanning and scanning. Had to shut it down with task manager. The system I had the problem with is a Pentium 4 -2.8GH running Windows XP sp3. I had no problems running it on my Dell Inspiron 1.6 Celeron - Win XP. Guess I might stick with Glary Utilities - never had any problems with that.

Dan, I've had no problems with the actual program interface, but I suppose that could be a possible problem others are having too. If anyone has had similar problems let's let them be heard.
As for the processor recognition problem I agree that there should be an update-able database for such a case.Posted 15 years ago # -
the only reason for it to hang like is that the file that was trying to be deleted was in use.
I dont know how in depth glarys goes, but winutil is pretty dangerous at how much and what it deletes. Then again so is glarys, I dont use glarys for that reason, but I only use winutil to wipe my browser tracks and let me tell you it wipes everything, even the bookmarks icons.
Glarys took out my my icon for DivX, now I have a generic folder for my Divx movies and nothing I have tried gets it back short of changing all icons. Thats why I quit using them,so be careful.

Back to the subject-
The next time it happens, you could send them an email and a copy of the file its hanging on so they can fix the problem. They cant fix what they cant see or simulate.
or
If it doesnt show the files being deleted to know what it hangs on, just send send them an email and make them aware. Maybe they can help.Never know you might get a free copy of the newest version for helping. I have before. I've gotten free programs and if not that I've gotten good discounts.

@Dan wrote "I had the darn thing freeze up on me when I was doing 1-click Maintenance."
I don't mean this as any sort of diss or anything personal. I posted a comment that day (#40) which might be helpful for anyone having a bad experience with this type of program. Meaning it also applies to the alternatives to that day's Giveaway (i.e., Glary, Advanced Windows Care, Tuneup, System Mechanic, etc). Here's the link, and you'll most like have to access the "See All Comments" from that day.

I knew that but forgot also forgot about it, mainly because I in my head I filed under do not run programs at the same time. This way I never have any of these programs running together to interfere with one another.
Now whether or not this works, I dont know. I would like your opinion. I havent done any research and wont be able to today.
I never use one click maintenance, though. never ever ever.
System Mechanic is as close as get to something like, but I have used them for years and know exactly what they do. I remember blaming them in the early days when it was other programs that cause the issue and would shut it down. Just part of learning.I can very much see tuneup utilies doing something like you described. Their program is very aggresive and not only that, it ca not be shutdown in task manager. It will just execute and come back on, not even antivirus programs do that.
Very very aggressive and not needed for such a program. I had to uninstall it after that. I knew it was bad news, not to mention it sucked anyway. Thanks for bringing that to my attention Renegade. Really, maybe that was reason my divx icon got deleted.

Hey Renegade.... How True. After the program WinUtilities froze up in "Clean Internet Temporary Files", while doing the 1 click maintenance, later in the day when I went to go back on my desktop (boot it up) computer and it was DEAD. As in.... would not boot and was showing a black screen. Went through 2 days of checking if I had a bad videcard or hard drive. Went into the computer case and reseated all the stuff - cards, cables and memory chips. Finally figure my Windows XP system, MBR or registery was corrupted. I did try the Windows Recovery Console program with no luck. I went to reinstall my OS, and it said I had a version of Windows XP on the computer. It then ask if I wanted to do a repair, and I said YES...... WEll, it did just that, and BINGO! my Desktop came right back. Anyway,my computer seems to boot a slower now. Anyway, I really cannot say if WinUtilities screwed my system up. And silly me.... I'm running WinUtilities again!!!! Maybe I should just stick my finger in the AC outlet near ME :-) Anyway, it's still running, and seems to have made it's way thru the "Clean Internet Temporary Files", thank goodness. I will let it run and see how long it takes.... My big problem might have been that I forced it to shut down.... OK... it just finished doing it's thing, and I had "check" the box to shut my system down. I just started it back up and it booted up fine. Anyway, thanks everyone for your input. I will really be more careful of these types of "cleaning" programs from now on!

My problem with WinUtilities is that the program screen is corrupted. Some of the menus have text all over the place and it is very difficult to read exactly what sections the program offers. Somehow the GUI has been led astray and I am not sure what might bring it back into correct functioning.
It works OK, it is just that the interface screen is all crazy, hard to read and understand.

Ilox,
Try changing your screen resolution ,if supported or/and reverting to the normal dpi(100%) setting.Posted 15 years ago # -
ilox, I had the same problem. It was because I installed the new copy over the old one.
I deleted the original installed program, then when new installed, it looked fine.Posted 15 years ago #
