For the past few days when I run setup exe. I get an error Failure to Connect Please try again later. I noticed that others are having the same problem.
Todays giveaway Skype recorder is doing it. I could really use it.
Does anyone have a fix or an idea as to what is causing it.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate. This problem just started.

Hi round2it, I've had the same problem on and off for a couple of years. I usually reboot my modem and/or router. That usually solves the problem. another fix that may help is to clear out your internet cache. This is where all your cookies are stored; including the giveawayoftheday page cookie. Cookies can become corrupted and it could be this that's causing the error you are getting. If you use internet explorer just right click on your internet explorer icon and select internet properties.
From there you can delete your cookies, browsing history and temporary files. You can be selective in what you delete; which is useful if you don't want to have to re-input all your passwords. :)
I hope the above helps your problem. In most cases at least one or all of the above have cured the problem for me. If they haven't I've just tried downloading several times over the day and usually the problem has cleared. Oh yeah also try just rebooting your computer. sometimes that's all that's needed. :)

Hello round2it,
Have you updated your browser recently or an anti-malware program on your PC? Sometimes a firewall or an updated security program will block a connection. Firewalls have a lot of ways of blocking internet access and some firewalls and other security software manage all aspects of internet connections and web traffic, including domain name service. You have to allow DNS access for normal web browsing.
Also make sure you don't have a utility program that modified your connection settings. Even if a utility is no longer installed, sometimes the "user.js" file could still contain the modified settings. You can check by opening your profile folder and look for a “user.js” file. If you're not sure of the folders location then do a "Search" from Windows Explorer. Then try deleting it to remove any proxy settings, afterwards, reset your connection manager.
There are other things you could try but this should keep you busy and thoroughly confused for the time being. Happy Hunting... ;)

Thanks aRenegade, DNS is turned on by default in W7, I did flush the DNS cache and GOTD is listed. No user.js files found in any user accounts. (only in old Mozilla backup files) Tried to install with Firewall off. Same error Give away of the day Failure to Connect. Try again later.
No problem with my Internet Connection. I can surf to any site. No Restrictions. Maybe you could tell me some of the other things to try.
Thanks round2it.Posted 14 years ago # -

This problem started when the wrapper was changed to check for Activation availability before installing instead of Activation after installation.
Thanks

Might be a long shot...but if you're using Firefox(or Opera,..) do make sure IE7,8 is not set to work offline.
Do you have any other security software running ?
(...you didn't answer GMMan's question)Posted 14 years ago # -
IE8 not set to work offline, I have AVG and AdAware, when I first started having trouble I actually uninstalled both but still had the error. Actually I did answer GMMans question Firewall off and the internet cache empty.

OK guy's I think I found the problem. IE8 would not connect to the internet. I reset the defaults in IE8 and set Firefox as my default browser. Apparently because IE8 could not connect to the internet it was blocking Activation. My thanks to all of you suggestions. I hope this will help someone else that might be having the same sort of problems. I noticed in the past that others were having this same problem.
Again I thank all of you.Posted 14 years ago #
