Ok all you pc wizzes (or wizzors/wizzards....lol) There seems to be a "short?" in my laptop monitor. When I open it to a certain point the screen goes black and I have to pull it forward to make it come back on. DH went on line to look for a schematic to see if he could determine what it will look like before he takes it apart but couldn't find one. It's an Acer 7720 purchased in 2008. There's only 2 spots where the connection could be and that's in 1 of the 2 hinges. Has anyone ever had this type of problem with a laptop? If so what did you do?
Thanks in advance,
BK/Rox

you're not going to find a schematic for it short of acer- if there.

an inverter board if it's got a bad connector is cheaper, but the cable makes more sense.

Buckleysmom,
I found this pdf file of the manual for the Acer 7720 which shows the components on the motherboard - hope it is some help for you. Here is the web site, sorry but I know how to make a clickable link on these posts!Posted 14 years ago # -
Ooops - guess the links are automatic!! :-}

Thanks Gabby. I forwarded the link to DH so he can look it up from his PC. Fixing mine is on hold for now cause he's a bit "under the weather" (he has a lot of nerve getting sick when my pc needs him......lol). Anyway, at least I can use it as long as I don't open it too far......UGH!

that's a downloadable PDF file- might be smart to download a copy for yourself.
getting sick, alas, is more akin to dodging lightning... or I wouldn't be in bed coughing and aching when there's a bunch of important stuff to take care of. like installing a kitchen faucet that doesn't spew water all over when used, and some new runs of red and green LED night lighting. I did get the CD-ROM swapped out for a DVD-ROM into this laptop, and made a mirror of it's hard drive. yay.
at least I can use the phone to let the doctor's offices and medicare replacement plans that SAIF accepted this dislocated shoulder as an aggravation of my work comp claim, reimbursements are in order... aargh. it seems to confuse them.

Hey Goody, I just realized I never thanked you for the info you posted. It was exactly what we needed (and looked for but couldn't find). It was the video cable causing the problem and DH was able to get what he needed and fix it.
Thanks for your great help!

I know how you feel, BK - I also feel wonderful when I'm able to fix PC issues.
