Why my antivirus Kaspersky alerted me that this program asks for access to my microphone?

Many hours ago I successfully downloaded and installed this program. I then followed the instructions to "Get Free Registration Code". I submitted the form with my name and email address and was notified that I would soon receive an email containing a Registration Code for the free annual license. Many hours have passed and I still have not received the expected email... I have been watching both the Inbox and the Spam folders. Any help please? One observation currently on the News is that Microsoft is experiencing some World-Wide problems at this time.

Just curious: If a video header is not damaged, what is the purpose in uploading a "sample"?
Also: What is done when portions of the file are filled with hex(00)'s or other unrelated bytes?
Thanks for reading.

Peter, that's when a different repair program is required. Obviously if frames are missing or corrupted no conventional repair software can produce pleasing repairs. it is possible that an intelligent process could guess the number of frames that are damaged in a specific block of data and infill those lost frames with duplicates of the preceding frames so the resultant video will not have chunks of grey frames but appear to stutter but don't forget some of those blocks of nulls or unrelated bytes may not even be lost video data they could be lost audio data so some audio repair algorithms need to be incorporated.

Hello TK. Thanks for jumping in. I realize that what ain't there can't be corrected. What I was hoping for was a lossless copy of the good frames up to the point of contamination. Then, no further output until the arrival of the next legitimate key frame at which point the lossless copy would continue. Yes, it would shorten the video's run time but at least the player wouldn't crash or pick up its bags and leave home without a word. :)

big caveat with this is it REQUIRES a same dimension/codec specs additional sample video as the damaged video to be "repaied" It repairs by copy and pasting stream headers to try and make the damaged video playable and re-encodable. You mileage will vary as damage to a a media file like "video" files can occur in many many ways. It won't even make a repair attempt without a suitable "sample" good video. You may get better results using VLC and other such programs that try to be fault tolerant and have the ability to save to a file what they are playing.

TK, I appreciate your point here (and all your other contributions). Finding an additional sample video has been really challenging for downloaded video files I have from over several decades and I've had rare success with several programs in attempting repair. I also find VLC can often do a good job to stumble through, especially if I convert .avi to .mp4.
