So if some random visitor comes when you aren't home and uses your computer they can get access to your passwords?

Might be a stupid question but still.

LadyLei, this is why you should A: set a reasonable password for your windows account and B: set the machine to lock after a period of inactivity requiring re-entry of password to re-gain access to the idle session. and not have any account on a windows machine with this or similar program installed., Certainly not leaving an administrator/elevated user account without some kind of password kept secure.
Your question is why many of nirsoft utilities are often detected as potentially unwanted programs or security riskware and removed by many anti-virus programs by default and have to be manually whitelisted to keep them on a system.

It does not recover ALL our passwords, only those that are stored within the system. It will not recover veracrypt, z-zip, arj, rar, skype, windows login passwords to name but a few.

TK, It also does NOT recover the windows 10 Mail app passwords either! I suspect it will not recover any of the Microsoft Store derived apps passwords due to their sandboxing and this being a desktop app that has no rights to access Microsoft store app data! And no it won't work under XP as the installer requires a minimum of NT 6.0 to execute and that is Vista and Server 2008
