Has anyone else experienced problems with Defensewall HIPS? I have two computers (out of three) which get stuck during bootup after installing Defensewall HIPS last night. I am only able to boot into Safe Mode to use MSConfig. Any ideas would be appreciated. I will probably have to uninstall Defensewall HIPS.

Hi!
I don't think it is a right place for your support request :)
But, anyway, you need to do following: go to "Safe Mode" and find %windows directory%\minidump folder, zip all the minidump files there (they have .dmp extension) to one file and send it to support [at] softsphere [dot] com. In case there are no such the files there- mail me and I'll send you test drivers set.

Right place or not, Thumbs up for being accesible to the users and their problems.
Since I'm already adding a reply, let me ask you something:
I'm running Returnil (http://www.returnilvirtualsystem.com/) on my system and was wondering if your app would be complimentary and providing an extra level of security on that setup or better not have the two of them installed?

OK, no problem. I just would prefer to have support request at my support forum as I monitors it much more frequently. :)

2 AlexSJ.
Well, there is a need of protection between reboots. Keyloggers and form-grabbers are still able to get your financial data until not wiped of with Returnil.

DWHIPS does have a setting to stop it starting when windows starts up which effectivley removes its effect on our systems. I have it set here to load via desktop shortcut only when I decide I need it.
The setting is in the Advanced Tab, Options Button, "Run with windows" un-check box.
If you are running Vista you need to run the systray defensewall.exe executable as an Adminstrator to have the setting have any effect, this is also true of a few of the other settings like run as trusted and when trying to remove programs from the untrusted list.

Unfortunately. I could not afford to have my two main computers dead in the water, so I went into safemode logged in as administrator, started msconfig, set it to boot selectively without the startup programs, turned on Windows installer services and after rebooting, uninstalled defensewall from both computers. It cost me an hour late last night and at least another hour early this morning, but both computers seem to be fine now. I really would have liked to use the program, and I appreciate the opportunity to try it out, but as I said before, I couldn't afford to be without these two computers, not only today, but possibly over the long weekend. BTW, these are both XP sp2 computers. (Obviously, I didn't have any opportunity to read much about how the program is supposed to work, but after the initial install, one of the computers showed Outlook and Internet Explorer as untrusted processes.)

Anyway, minidump files must be there if it was kernel-related staff. If you have them- send it to me.
