I have some friends with Mac computers who are eaten up with jelousy over all the cool free programs that I can get for my pc. Does anyone know of a similar site for Macs?
Any free sites for Macs?

Hi Bethany,
I'm not a Mac user but I get the daily Make-Use-Of emails which often mention Mac games and applications. A recent email included "16 free fun simple addictive games to take the edge off" and most of them were for the Mac, to my disappointment, lol. If you log onto the makeuseof.com site and click on the gaming tab on the right hand side of the page, you will no doubt find other games for Mac. There is also a Mac tab, but I haven't checked it out, not having a Mac myself.
So, try the following link for the games I mentioned:
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/16-free-fun-simple-addictive-games-to-take-the-edge-off/Most were free but a couple are commercial games.
Otherwise I suggest a Google, if you can google with a Mac (I have no idea.)

Thank you Nola. I will tell my friend about that site. I don't use a mac either but it looks like there might be some things to interest both my friend and me there. I also know some linux users who might get some software there.

I could not check these out because I don't have a Mac but the site claims the games are free. (They might be demos)

Thanks guys. I think that she really is looking more for free software than for games. I sent her the links. She can check it out for herself.

See if she's heard of this French site offering "applications for Mac OS X." Can't vouch for the quality of the software, but the site claims - "All applications on this web site are Freeware, gratis and freely usable; you may copy and distribute them at will. You can use them for as long a time as you want."
A utility called DEEPER looked interesting.
Then there's this news - Voice, video chat coming to Mac Messenger
"In some great news from Mac Mojo, the Office for Mac team blog, it looks like Windows Live Messenger for Mac will receive a major update sometime early next year. The biggest new feature update will be AV support for the personal client, which means users will be able to participate in cross-platform audio and video chat using the personal version of Microsoft Messenger for Mac."Posted 16 years ago # -

Hello Bethany, and all interested.
Check out MacHeist @ http://www.macheist.com/. MacHeist offers a lot of free quality commercial software for Macintosh with a twist. For completing "missions" i.e. figuring out puzzles and riddles you get free software and deals. The puzzles are challenging at times and can be time consuming but are generally fun to complete. Don't worry if you are unable to complete a certain puzzle. The puzzles are usually solved collaboratively within the MacHeist community and you can read the forums for solutions.
On another note MacHeist recently had a Christmas offering in the form of the Mac Giving Tree. http://givingtree.macheist.com/ Though it is pretty much out of season now, the website is still available and so is it's offerings.
